THE SYLLABUS OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATION (32321 I)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course aims to give an introduction and basic understanding on non verbal and verbal communications as well as written communications in business. The main materials in business communication contain the principal of communications, the process of written communications, the process of reporting, and communication with several available types of communication channel. In this course, we would also discuss how to write a good employment letter and resumes, to success on job interviews, and to prepare excellent business presentations. The achievement of this course is not only on cognitive matters (knowledge and abilities), but also on skills, behavior and attitude matters.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Students are able to implement the business communication methods and processes correctly. Furthermore, students are expected to have: 1) certain skills, named: setting and guided responsing; 2) certain behavior/attitude, named: responding and valuing.

Introduction to Business

This course is conducted on every Thursday on 01.00 pm at P.S.1.3. Special schedule is set up for Dr. Philemon Robert, he teaches on every Monday on 03.40 pm at P.S.1.3.

TYPES OF ASSIGNMENT:

All assignments will be weekly personal assignments and be conducted in bilingual languages (Indonesia and English) because students will get double degrees from Indonesia and universities abroad; so students have to be able to do a good communication both in Indonesia and in English.

INTRODUCTION TO FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (30223Z)

Course Description:

Finance is a science that is related to value the firm and make decisions. Financial functions contain long-tem investment, long-term financing, and managing daily financial activities. Clearly, financial management is how to implement the financial principles to maximize value of the firm. In this course, long-term investment decisions are discussed in capital budgeting section, long-term financing decisions are discussed in capital structure section, and managing daily financial activities is discussed in working capital management section.

Course Objectives:

In this course, students are expected to not only be able to know and to understand principle concepts, theories, and tools in financial management area, but also to implement it on simple financial management problems as well as to conduct simple analyses.
